Holiday Write the Room is a year-round literacy center for PreK, kindergarten and 1st grade that builds seasonal vocabulary, handwriting and early writing. Children walk around the classroom to find numbered picture word cards, read each word and record it on a recording sheet.
The resource includes seven complete holiday sets: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter and Earth Day. Each set has 12 original picture vocabulary cards, so one purchase covers the school year from October through spring.
Every holiday comes with five differentiated recording sheets. The youngest learners trace the words, while others write them independently, sort them by word length, read and fill in sentences or write their own holiday sentences. One center can serve a whole mixed-ability group at once.
A seated word chart is included for every holiday, which makes the activity accessible for students who cannot move around the room and handy for small group tables, rainy days or limited space. Picture support on every card also makes the vocabulary approachable for English language learners and emerging readers.
A teacher guide with setup instructions and a holiday calendar, a How to Write the Room student poster, answer keys and an I Wrote the Room award round out the 64 black and white PDF pages, ready for literacy centers, morning work, sub plans and homeschool.
