Description

The November Writing Prompts Journal is a printable writing resource for kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade that fills the month of November with Thanksgiving and fall writing. With 24 prompts, there is a fresh topic for nearly every school day, which makes it easy to build a steady morning work or writing center routine.

Every prompt is offered in two versions. Level A, written for kindergarten and early first grade, gives children a large space to draw, a sentence starter to trace and primary lines to write on. Level B, for first and second grade, adds a First–Next–Last planning strip, a printed sentence starter and standard lines for longer writing.

The prompts move across five genres: narrative, opinion, informational, how-to and letter writing. That variety helps young writers notice that a story, a list of steps and a letter each sound different. Along the way, students keep practicing handwriting, building complete sentences, and using capital letters and punctuation.

Each page includes a picture word bank so children can spell seasonal words on their own, plus an I Can checklist they can use to reread and fix their writing before they finish. Seven I Can writing posters and a My Writing Checklist poster make those expectations visible in the classroom.

A teacher planning guide lists all 24 prompts by genre, and the set also includes journal use tips, a student cover, two levels of free write pages, a writing conference notes page and a Super Writer Award. The 61 black and white pages work for morning work, writing centers, small groups, homework, homeschool and sub plans.
