Rhyming is where children first learn to hear the parts inside words, and CVC word families turn that listening into reading. These no-prep pages move from hearing rhymes to matching, sorting and writing them across all five short vowels.
Rhyme Time CVC is a no-prep set of rhyming words worksheets for preschool, Pre-K, kindergarten and 1st grade that ties phonological awareness to short vowel CVC word families. Children start by listening for rhyme and finish by reading and writing whole families of words.
The set is organized by vowel. Five posters cover short a, e, i, o and u and feature 15 CVC word families in all. For each vowel, students work through Rhyming Rows, Rhyme Match, Does It Rhyme?, a cut and paste rhyme page and Trace & Write pages at two levels, so the same routine repeats while the sounds change.
Repeating a familiar page format is helpful for young learners. Once children know how Rhyme Match or Does It Rhyme? works, their attention can go to the sounds instead of the directions, which makes the pages useful for literacy centers, morning work and small intervention groups.
After the vowel sections, mixed review pulls the families together. Students sort words by family, complete rhyming sentences at two levels, try a Make a Rhyme activity and read an 8-page Rhyme Mini Book. A Rhyme Check assessment shows who can hear and produce rhymes independently.
A study plan, teacher notes and complete answer keys are included in the 51 black and white pages, ready for phonics centers, intervention, morning work and homeschool.
