The Thanksgiving Turkey Fold-Out Craft is a 19-page gratitude writing activity for kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. Students color, fold and assemble a turkey whose feathers spell GRATEFUL, and when the turkey opens, four hidden boxes show what they are thankful for.
Writing is leveled so every child can succeed. Level A asks kindergartners to draw pictures, Level B adds one written word for K–1, and Level C asks 1st and 2nd graders to draw and write "because..." sentences that explain their thinking. Black and white pages and full-color versions are included for all three levels.
Planning makes the writing stronger. The My Thankful Four planner helps students choose one person, one place, one thing and one food they are thankful for before they write. An I Am Thankful writing page offers a separate place for a longer response.
Options make the craft fit different classrooms. A blank feather version lets students choose their own gratitude words, and a large two-page version gives younger learners more room to draw and write. A six-step How to Fold picture guide shows each fold clearly.
Eight gratitude talk cards support circle time or buddy class conversations, and two Thanksgiving coloring pages keep early finishers busy. Teacher notes list Common Core standards. The craft works for Thanksgiving lessons, SEL, writing centers, morning work, family events and bulletin boards.
