Description

Spoon of Thanks is a Thanksgiving gratitude craft and family tradition for PreK through 5th grade. Students decorate a wooden spoon, or make the included paper spoon, and take it home with a short family poem. At the Thanksgiving table, the family passes the spoon and each person shares something they are thankful for.

The project links social emotional learning, character education and family engagement. Twenty-four Pass the Spoon conversation cards give families easy prompts to use at dinner, and an Our Family's Thanks return page brings their reflections back to class so students can share and celebrate them together.

Teachers get a 2-week prep timeline with ten color-coded steps and directions on materials, setup and tips. Six painted spoon styles offer design ideas, and a planner with front and back templates and a paint color planner helps students design before they paint. If paint is not practical, the paper spoon craft works instead.

Family notes come in four versions, for PreK–K, grades 1–2, grades 3–5 and any grade, along with six poem tags and eight Made-By tags. Writing pages extend the project: I Am Thankful for K–2 and an I Am Grateful paragraph page for grades 3–5.

A THANKFUL bunting and a Spoon of Thanks display sign finish the classroom display. The 22 pages come as two PDFs, a full-color edition and a printer-friendly low-ink edition, for classrooms, homeschool and celebrations.
