The Thankful Grateful Writing Craft is a Thanksgiving writing activity and SEL lesson for kindergarten through 5th grade. Students fill large THANKFUL or GRATEFUL bubble letters with words, sentences or drawings that show what they appreciate, then the letters become a classroom or hallway display.
Each word comes with its own brainstorm sheet and two versions of the craft: a lined version for writing inside the letters and a draw version for pictures. A 24-idea prompt menu and gratitude word wall cards help students who are not sure where to start, and the careful work of filling letters adds fine motor practice.
Writing is leveled across the grades. Kindergarten and 1st grade students draw and write, 2nd and 3rd graders use writing pages, and 4th and 5th graders plan and publish a gratitude paragraph with a planner and final copy. A thank-you note page lets students turn their thinking into a message for someone real.
A 3-day teacher plan, illustrated student directions and a finished craft example keep setup simple. For the display, there are eight pages of giant THANKFUL letters, eight pages of giant GRATEFUL letters, a two-page "Our Hearts Are Full of Thanks" banner and leaf border strips.
The 42 black and white pages suit Thanksgiving week, November writing centers, morning meeting, social emotional learning lessons, bulletin boards, homeschool and sub plans.
