The Free Scarecrow Paper Bag Craft is a 19-page fall resource for Pre-K, kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade that combines a hands-on craft with shapes, scissor skills, sequencing and early writing. Children stuff a paper lunch bag and turn it into a scarecrow with a hat and a face built from shapes.
The craft offers real choices. Children pick a floppy hat or a farmer hat, add a hat band, and choose from several eye, nose, mouth and patch pieces in the shape face kit. A "Hi, I'm ______" name tag gives each scarecrow a personality. If paper bags are not on hand, a printable scarecrow bag template works instead.
Fine motor practice is built in. Level A straw strips have straight lines for beginning cutters, while Level B adds zigzag and wavy lines for children ready for more control. The cut straw becomes the scarecrow's hair and stuffing details.
Follow-up pages keep the learning going. A Scarecrow Shape Hunt and Color by Shape: Fall Farm page reinforce shape recognition, a First, Next, Then, Last cut and paste builds sequencing language, and two differentiated writing pages let children write about their scarecrow at their own level. An answer key is included.
A six-step picture assembly guide, a three-lesson teacher plan and teacher notes with standards make the free download easy to use for fall crafts, shape units, preschool and kindergarten centers, morning work, scarecrow units, bulletin boards, sub plans and homeschool.
